Western Caspian University offers a PhD program in International Relations.

The PhD program in international relations provides a high level of program knowledge leading to proficiency in international relations.

Doctoral candidates admitted to this program must have a full master's degree in international relations.

The main purpose of the doctoral studies is to give a deep knowledge in all aspects of international relations, investigating the problems of international relations and at the same time be able to carry out a high level of independent research. The program provides candidates with the opportunity to evaluate political and social changes in the global system, as well as theoretical, analytical and critical assessment of the foreign and domestic policies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, includng political issues and developments in the region.

In order to improve knowledge and share experience, the university invites international experts in various fields of study including: Colin Love from the UK, Randall Baker and Rise Kelsey from the United States, Ross Douglass from Canada, and Emmanuel Arcon and Martin Cristobal from Spain. In addition, Western Caspian University offers doctoral students a chance to participate in the Erasmus Mundus program to improve their research and familiarize themselves with international experience.

Participation in the program and future perspectives:

The PhD program is offered to graduate master’s degree students. Graduates are qualified to work as a professor in educational institutions as well as use their research skills within the framework of international, governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
