Department of Translation
The mission of the Department of Translation is to educate and train highly-qualified interpreters and translators of English. In the course of their studies, students acquire fundamental expertise in all the various fields of translation, ranging from theoretical and pragmatic aspects to lexical and grammatical issues. Students are especially made aware of intercultural and interlingual challenges of translation and interpretation. Many courses are conducted in well-equipped language laboratories that allow for an interactive teaching process. In order to guarantee a high quality and standard of teaching, the department makes use of modern teaching material and textbooks, and it cooperates with professional translators and interpreters from the USA and the UK, from Canada, Germany, Russia, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Poland.
